I created this product out of a personal need. I’ve never liked using heat on my hair so I would wash my hair at night and twist it up into a microfiber turban to dry my hair overnight while creating some waves.
There were 2 problems:
1) It always fell off 2) I wanted more curls
So early summer of 2017 I played around with the idea of sewing strips onto a headband. By December we were online and we’ve loved bringing it to you ever since! xo
How did we get our start?
Our founder created the original Octocurl design at her kitchen table in the summer of 2017 by cutting up strips of paper and stapling them to a headband. She became obsessed with this idea and tested all summer by using single strips, double strips, quadruple strips… she wrapped, curled, twisted, bent, & braided.
What problem are we solving?
There are countless heat tools on the market. Our mission is to offer options for great hair styling without the use of heat.

Creates beautiful curls
Comfortable to wear and creates beautiful curls. There is a big learning curve to use but minor adjusts after first use worked great. Foam rods are very long even for hair that goes down to the knees. Would consider sizing down if purchased again. Curls lasted multiple days, didn’t fall much if any between washes.

Very easy to use!
I’ve tried two other heatless curl systems and I just wasn’t coordinated enough to wrap my hair. They would always be too loose or so messy that my curls came out crazy. This is very easy to use because the octo legs hang off a center piece which you can clip at the top of your head. The first time I used it, I curled strands around each leg, but I have naturally wavy/curly hair and this gave me crazy tight curls that looked wild! The second time I used it, I would hold two legs together which increased the thickness (similar to using a larger barrel on a curling wand) and this gave me a much more relaxed curl. I use it on dry hair since my natural hair will curl with just about any bend you put to it, but I think for longevity starting with slightly damp hair would be better.

curler worked well. Will definitely take a few times to figure out. I should have gone with a curler for medium length hair. I am a side sleeper and overall it was confortable.

try something else
not the best option. Very hard to deal with. Doesn’t stay in place, doesn’t come with clips and hard to clip anyway due to design. the ties on the end create the kinks and folding them like it says does not help. Creates shirley temple curls, trying to use multiple together is not easy. And the rollers weren’t long enough for me. I’ll have to try something else. Definitely disappointed.

Easy, effective, great concept!
Works so well on my daughter’s (10yr) pin straight, thick hair. Curls last 24 hours+ – previously with heat they would barely last 3-4 hours. She gives it only 4.5 stars because “it doesn’t also add glitter to my hair, THEN it would be perfect”! Everytime she showers and washes her hair she asks for the Octocurl – it’s easy, quick, doesn’t disturb her sleep and makes great, bouncy curls the next morning!

Takes practice, beautiful, soft, wavy girls when dry
I saw somebody using these online and it looked much easier to use them then when you really do it yourself. It takes a lot of practice to figure out how much hair you need in each to make sure to get just the right amount in each one evenly. I have to say it really looked beautiful after I figured it out. I put them in at night with fairly damp hair with a touch of moose or gel. they were very comfortable to sleep in. If you run your fingers through it after you take them out the curl was gorgeous. I have very thick curly hair and was left soft beautiful waves. A little time-consuming, but well worth it.

Not really a fan of this one. I as trying to find different headless curls methods and this one just didn’t do it. It was very awkward figuring it out and was too much work with not a good result.
